Kaylia Cooper

Kaylia Cooper is a senior attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. She was born and raised in Jamaica before she moved to Florida to pursue her goal of becoming a medical doctor. Kaylia is currently completing her major in Medical Biology and a minor in Health Administration. She plans to attend medical school after completing her bachelor’s degree. She is interested in Pathology and Obstetrics/Gynecology. Kaylia is pursuing her interests by participating in research on aging in the C. Elegans species. In her spare time, Kaylia likes to read, watch her favorite shows, and spend time with family and friends.

Kaycia Cooper

Kaycia Cooper is a senior majoring in Exercise Science and Health on the pre-PT/OT track at Florida Atlantic University. Her plan after earning her bachelor’s degree is to get a master’s in Exercise Physiology and a doctorate in Physical Therapy. With her passion for Physical Therapy, Kaycia plans to specialize in pediatric or sports therapy. Apart from doing research in the Exercise Physiology lab, in her spare time, Kaycia enjoys going to the gym and cooking.

Schnydine Noel

Schnydine Noel is a senior from South Florida currently attending Florida Atlantic University majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior with a minor in Psychology on a pre-med track. The time that she has left to complete her degree will be precious to her as she spends time improving her personal skills, participating in activities that she enjoys, and reaping the benefits of learning to gain a higher education. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Schnydine plans to continue her pursuit of a higher education to medical school. Schnydine works as a community pharmacy technician and in her free time, she loves to explore new places and try new things.

Alyssa Espejo

Alyssa Espejo is a senior studying Neuroscience and Behavior at Florida Atlantic University. Born and raised in South Florida, Alyssa is planning on pursuing her dream of attending medical school to study Emergency Medicine or Pediatrics. She hopes to one day be able to travel globally and offer her knowledge and skills to care for those that do not have easy access to health care. At her university, Alyssa works as a Student Assistant in the College of Nursing Research Department and as a Research Assistant in the Neuropsychology Lab. While maintaining her academic and work life, she makes sure to relax and enjoy her spare time. Alyssa loves to crochet, play lacrosse, read and journal, and mostly, be around her family and friends.

Penelope Guerrero

Penelope Guerrero is a transfer student from Penn State and is now a Junior attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. She was born in New York and raised in Pennsylvania. Penelope is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences to attend medical school in the near future. She is currently a sales consultant at AT&T and is hoping for future projects that involve research and shadowing. In her spare time, she likes to read, cook, and make slime with her daughter.

Matthew Barrios

Matthew Barrios is a senior attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL and he was born and raised in West Palm Beach, FL. Matthew is aiming to acquire his bachelor’s degree in Sciences with future goals of attending medical school. He hopes to specialize in orthopedics to one day become a surgeon relied upon by NFL teams. Interestingly enough, Matthew played football in high school, which pushes him even more to achieve his goal. Matthew is currently shadowing Dr. Emilio Fernandez at MSPB in Boynton Beach, FL, and he helps the medical assistants at the practice by assisting them with patient care. Matthew is also apart of Tiny Earth research lab in which they aim to find novel bacteria, and he assists as a volunteer by collecting fin samples for genetic sequencing. In his spare time, Matthew loves playing video games, building computers, golfing, and hanging out with friends.

Elizabeth Desir is a junior striving to earn a Biological Science degree at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Born and raised in Florida, she grew to love the field of medicine and its many professions. With her love for sports, Elizabeth became interested in specializing as a Sports Medicine physician and she plans to continue her journey to medical school to pursue this career. In the meantime, Elizabeth’s spare time is reserved for reading books, watching sports games (mostly soccer and football) and international movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Detchina Rameau

Detchina Rameau is currently a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University. Detchina is a first-generation student and she is majoring in Biological Science. She was born in Haiti and moved to Florida after the devastating earthquake. Detchina decided she wants to become a physician assistant because she knows the importance of the medical field – it is was very hard to get medical needs, let alone to afford it, in her country. She is currently working in the physics department as work study student. In the summer, Detchina is hoping to get a job as an EKG technician as she is already certified.

Andrea is a sophomore studying Neuroscience and Behavior. She was born and raised in a small town in Venezuela. She would like to pursue medical school with hopes of specializing in cardiology. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering in the hospital, social calls with elderly people, and spending valuable time with her friends and family.

Isabella Suarez

Isabella Suarez is a senior at Florida Atlantic University who was born and raised in South Florida. Majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in Psychology, Isabella plans to pursue her dream of attending Physician Assistant School as this career path reflects her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of children as she plans on specializing in pediatrics. She found a true passion for medicine and pediatrics as a Clinical Assistant at Pediatric Associates. Outside the classroom, Isabella has recently started volunteering as a standardized patient at the Florida Atlantic University School of Medicine, dedicating her time to helping future healthcare professionals develop their clinical skills. In her free time, Isabella enjoys reading, listening to music, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

Manuela Rios is a junior at FAU and is a biology major on a pre-med track. She is currently a medical scribe at 2 emergency rooms in the area. She is excited to be an ambassador for Medi-Futures because it gave her her first insight on shadowing and its importance on the pre-health track. She was initially born in Colombia, and is a tennis player and tennis coach.

Gshaline Rampersad was born and raised in Palm Beach. She is in her second semester of her Junior year and has her AA through Dual Enrollment. She is currently a Neuroscience major and psychology minor and she is also on the Pre-Med track. She works in a doctor’s office part time and will begin to volunteer in Boca Regional hospital soon. In her spare time she enjoys shopping or rewatching her favorite shows like Jersey Shore.

Daniella Gonzalez

Daniella Gonzalez is a senior attending Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Daniella is a first-generation student and is majoring in Health Science with a concentration in science and minor in Health Administration. She is a pre-Pa student who is interested in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. After graduating she plans to take a gap year to broaden her medical experience outside the United States and visit countries such as Cuba and Peru. Apart from being a Research Assistant in the chemistry and biochemistry lab, she is actively volunteering at a free clinic and shadowing physicians to better prepare herself for her passion within the medical field. In her spare time, Daniella loves cycling, baking, and hanging out with family and friends.
